At Hummingbird ABA Therapy, we know that your child’s success is a team effort, and caregiver involvement is a vital piece of the puzzle. While center-based ABA therapy offers structured environments, consistent schedules, and professional oversight, the role of parents and caregivers is equally important in supporting meaningful and lasting progress. Parents love that they have the ability to work while their child has therapy, especially given that ABA therapy is typically a 20+ hour/week commitment, but often worry about how they will still learn the strategies and skills needed to support their child outside of Hummingbird’s Center.

In our center setting, children benefit from personalized therapy plans delivered in an environment designed to promote learning and engagement. With access to diverse materials, social opportunities, and highly trained staff, our center helps ensure that children receive the recommended intensity of care, which is crucial for achieving developmental milestones. However, the work doesn’t end at the center. Generalizing these skills to the home and community requires active participation from parents and caregivers.
To support this collaboration, every child’s Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) includes caregiver training goal(s). These goals are designed to equip you with practical ABA methodologies to use at home, such as strategies for managing challenging behaviors or encouraging communication and social skills. As part of our program, parents and caregivers are required to meet with their child’s ABA Case Supervisor at least once a month, with weekly meetings recommended for families who want to maximize their involvement and impact.
During these meetings, caregivers receive hands-on training, review progress, and discuss strategies tailored to their child’s unique needs. This collaboration ensures that parents are prepared to reinforce learned skills consistently across settings, fostering greater independence and confidence in their child. While health insurance calls these sessions Parent/Caregiver Training, these are really more of a collaborative meeting between the parent and ABA Case Supervisor, where the parents can become familiar with the strategies being implemented outside of their care.

Center-based care provides your child with access to professional oversight and a controlled environment where they can thrive, plus with Hummingbird ABA’s Center having less than 14 planned closings per year (holidays and professional development days), even when schools are closed for breaks, our clients can continue their therapy sessions. This is also true for our clients enrolled in Hummingbird’s charter school partnership within our center, so clients retain a consistent schedule in our center whether they’re doing their alternative schooling there or ABA therapy.
Combined with regular caregiver training and collaboration, it creates a robust foundation for skill acquisition and long-term success. Don’t forget to login to your client portal at https://login.centralreach.com/ to sign off on any unsigned sessions (Billing-Timesheets), or any notes or forms that are still waiting for your signature. Our parent portal is also where you can find updated treatment plans and reports, as well as upload documents from your child's other providers. Collaboration with all providers is just as important as collaborating with parents and caregivers!
We understand the summer can be a little hectic, but meeting with your ABA Case Supervisor is not just a recommended activity, it’s a requirement of ABA services and helps your child reach their fullest potential at home, in therapy, and beyond!
